THOMPSON FALLS – The Plains Hot-Springs Trotters and Thompson Falls Lady Hawks met on a rainy afternoon last week in Thompson Falls.

Despite intermittent showers the two teams were able to get the game in, following a cancellation to the previous week’s meeting between the two squads.

Neither team wasted any time getting on the scoreboard with the Trotters pushing two baseburners across the plate in the top of the first.

The Lady Hawks responded in the bottom half of the frame, driving in three runs to take a 3-2 lead after one inning of play.

Junior Tamara Brubaker drove in two of the Lady Hawk’s runs during the game’s opening inning.

After a scoreless second inning, Plains-Hot Springs broke the game open in the third inning, plating six runs to seize an 8-3 lead.

The Trotters would add four runs in the top of the fourth and two more in the fifth to increase their lead to 14-3, the final score.

Plains-Hot Springs collected six hits in the win, with the Lady Hawks ending the game with two hits.

Sophomore Hailey Coe started the game from the circle for the Trotters and earned the victory on the road.

Madi Fitchett, a senior, pitched the entire game for Thompson Falls.

Freshman Jessica Thompson made an appearance out of the bullpen for the Trotters, pitching the final couple of innings in the win.

On the offensive side of the plate Plains-Hot Springs got major contributions from Sami Kinzie, Jena Peterson, Stacy Gray and Coe.

Peterson drove in two RBIs, while Gray also had two RBIs, in addition to a double, while going 2-3 from the plate.

Coe went 1-3, had a double and an extra base hit, and Sami Kinzie went 2-4 with a triple.

Junior Shelby Bowden went 1-3 with a double for the Lady Hawks.

Up next for Plains-Hot Springs will be a doubleheader on the road against Drummond, on Friday, April 10.

The Lady Hawks will next host Troy on Thursday, April 9.
