Obituary; Franklin Vincent Reed

| April 15, 2015 3:34 PM

Franklin Vincent Reed was born September 16th, 1998 to Brian and Amy Reed in Bakersfield, California. He was raised in Taft, California; Mountain View, Missouri Oklahoma and Plains, Montana.

Franklin participated in steer riding, when he was 6 years old, and BMX bicycle racing when he was 9 years old. He played elementary football for the Liberty Eagles in Mountain View, Missouri. He also played football for the Plains Horsemen at Plains High School.

Franklin liked to help his Papa with sheep and goats, and helped deliver a lamb. To say that he liked the outdoors, would be an understatement. He loved to hunt and was able to take two deer, a bear and several grouse with his Dad and Papa. He also loved to fish. If he couldn’t go hunting or fishing, he was always bugging Dad or Papa to go shooting. And he wanted to be a game warden.

He was a junior firefighter and he was able to have operated the pump for the jaws of life at a motor vehicle accident. He was also looking forward to going back to school.

During his stay at Ronald McDonald House, he was appointed Ambassador. The little kids came to him for answers and comfort. He was always concerned for the welfare of others, and wanted to make sure they were taken care of.

Franklin did not want people to know that he had cancer. He did not want or look for sympathy. Through his trial, he maintained a positive outlook and strong character. If you did not know him, and the battle he faced, you would never have known he had cancer.

Franklin is survived by his father, Brian Reed; and mother, Amy Miller-West; and stepfather, Jamison West. Maternal grandmother, Andrea Sykora; aunts and uncles, Sandra and Larry Collins, Aunt Jerri Miller, Phyllis and Larry Miller, David Everett all of Mountain View, Missouri.
