SANDERS COUNTY - Track and field teams from St. Regis and Superior competed last week at the Thompson Falls Invitational and the Seeley Invitational with some impressive results coming from the teams as they face the tail end of the season.

Nathan Lapinski of Superior won both the 800 and the 1,600 meter race.

Gibson Lowry of St. Regis had another commanding performance in the shot put placing fifth in that event. Andrew Managhan came in at fourth place in the high jump followed by Brandon Managhan in fifth place.

Marissa Koke of Superior placed sixth in the high jump. Emily Riddel of Superior placed fourth in the shot put and fifth in the discus.

Superior head coach Jaime Toivonen said she was still seeing a lot of improvement over the last few weeks.

“We did really well,” Toivonen said. “Nathan Lapinski had two first places. Bridger LaPierre had a personal best at the Seeley meet. Michael Perkins had a personal best as well. Emma DuBoise jumped 8’ 6” in the pole vault. She won that event. For only her fourth time ever jumping, she’s doing amazing. Marissa Koke ended up taking seventh in the high jump.”

Toivonen said the Superior Bobcats would next compete  at a meet in Arlee this Thursday.

The St. Regis Tigers and the Alberton Panthers were also scheduled to appear at the meet.
