Wild Horse Plains course hosts invitational

PLAINS – The Plains golf team hosted area schools at the Wild Horse Plains Golf Club last weekend.

Sanders County golfers experienced substantial success notching some top finishes at the tournament.

On the girl’s side of the competition Brooke Jacobs of Thompson Falls placed second with a score of 100.

Jade Ladeaux of Plains finished right behind Jacobs with a score of 101, to earn her third place in the Plains tournament.

Abby Croft and Elsie Brown of Thompson Falls also placed in the top ten.

Croft shot a 111 for sixth place and Brown finished with a score of 116, placing ninth.

The Lady Hawks placed third in the tournament with a team score of 481.

In the boy’s competition Thompson Falls competed to a second place finish with a combined score of 346.

Only Seeley-Swan finished the tournament with fewer strokes than the Bluehawks, winning with a team score of 324.

Dalton Hooten led the Bluehawks with a round of 83.

Hooten tied for fourth with Thomas Sellman of Loyola Sacred Heart.

Caleb Bates and Dylan Beckman of Thompson Falls also placed in the top ten.

Both Bates and Beckman shot an 87, splitting tenth place in the tournament.

The Plains boys were led by Cole Benson who shot a 92.

Fame Lopez shot a 116 and Alan Ihms ended his day with a round of 114 for Plains.

In addition to the Plains Invitational, The Ronan Invitational took place on Tuesday, April 14 and featured many of the golfers who were at the Wild Horse Plains Golf Course last weekend.

In Ronan, golfers fought the cold and windy weather, which ripped through the northwestern portion of the state early last week.

Jade Ladeaux played well throughout the Ronan tournament and ended her day in a tie for first place, after shooting a round of 97.

Ladeaux shared first place with Brooklyn Olson of Ronan.

Brook Jacobs of Thompson Falls took third in the girls’ tournament, shooting a 103.

Thompson Falls was also well represented by Abby Craft who shot a 107 and tied for fourth with Kaitlyn Woirhaye of Ronan and Madison Purdy of Loyola Sacred Heart.

Elsie Brown of Thompson Falls tied for ninth with Jessie Hood of Seeley-Swan.

Both golfers shot a round of 116.

The Thompson Falls boys placed fourth with a total team score of 354.

Dalton Hooten and Caleb Bates led the Bluehawks team with impressive rounds at the Mission Mountain Golf Club.

Hooten took third in the tournament with a score of 80 after eighteen.

Bates tied for seventh with Micah Nicholas of Seeley-Swan.

Both golfers shot an 83.

Cole Benson led the Plains boys finishing the invitational with a round of 90.

Fame Lopez of Plains shot 113 and Alan Ihms 127 on the day.

Both the Plains and Thompson Falls golf teams will next head to Eureka, for the Eureka Invitational on Tuesday, April 21.
