PLAINS – Residents helped the Clark Fork Valley Hospital and its residents last week, during the hospital’s annual holiday bazaar.

Everything being sold was donated by members of the community. There were games, toys, baked goods and a variety of other products. The hospital’s residents also had items for sale in the bazaar; puzzles they had assembled were glued and framed as well as clothes or other items they had knitted. A number of things, both from the residents and the greater community, were handmade.

“I think that’s the best part,” said Trudi Smith, event coordinator at the hospital. “Because it’s community-provided for our residents.”

She recalled there was lots of traffic for the event. While most of it was in the morning, there were people trickling in throughout the day; some parents came in with their kids and did Christmas shopping over the course of the day and even the residents came in to shop for things.

All precedes from the bazaar will be used to benefit the residents of the long-term-care program. The money will go toward new equipment, or upgrades to the current things still in use. They  will also use some it to pay for fun games, activities and trips for the residents.

“100 percent of all the fund raised from all the things donated goes to our resident’s fund, which is used for activities and resident needs,” Smith said. “So, 100 percent of it goes to our 28 bed facility.”
