Horsemen open season with win in Frenchtown

PLAINS – The Plains Horsemen had a strong start to their basketball season over the weekend with a 66-36 victory over Seeley-Swan at the Frenchtown kick-off tournament.

The first half was very back and forth, but the Horsemen came out ahead in each quarter. The boys scored 14 in the first quarter and pulled ahead by 20 in the second to end the half at 34-27. 

The second quarter saw the Plains team burst out further to cement their lead. They scored another 20 points in the third quarter, holding the Black Hawks to only two. The final quarter saw Plains gain another 12 points while Seeley-Swan pulled back for seven.

Ryan Ovitt was the top scorer of the Horsemen, getting 25 baskets. Aaron VonHeeder and Alec Cole were behind him with 15 and 11 points respectively.
