SANDERS COUNTY – The Superior Bobcat wrestling team had a busy week competing in no less than three competitions last week in Florence, Thompson Falls and Hot Springs where several of the team members came away with multiple victories.

Head Coach Charlie Crabb said he was pleased with the progress the team has made over the course of the season. Crabb said the team has shown consistent improvement as they prepare to go to divisionals next week.

“We’re young but we have improved quite a bit,” Crabb said. “There’s a huge difference from where they were at the beginning of the season as opposed to where they are now. They are working hard and this is the best year we’ve had for a long time. The kids are showing up every night and working hard. I’m very happy with them. The idea is to improve and they’ve done that.”

The divisional tournament is this weekend in Eureka. Crabb said, going into the first stage before the state tournament, the squad would be spending a significant amount of time in the weight room.

“This is a big weekend,” Crabb said. “We want to get in better shape and fine tune our techniques. We’ll polish some things and hit it hard and get in better shape and get mentally and physically ready for a big weekend.”
