Bluehawks finish with 20 point lead

Friday night, the Thompson Falls Bluehawks came away with a big win against the Superior Bobcats.

The first quarter went solely to the Hawks, who quickly took the lead and dominated the court, making drive after drive. The Bobcats tripped up multiple times, and their passing game was a little sloppy, which enabled the Hawks to make quick work. Although the Hawks did not have a high score, only climbing to 18 points by the end of the first quarter, it was that they kept the Bobcats from scoring, allowing them only six points.

During the second quarter, the Hawks slowed up a bit, scoring four points by the middle of the quarter. However, they played well defensively. The Bobcats only scored four points. Thompson kept a slower pace for the rest of the quarter, making five more points, making their score 27, while Superior climbed up to 16 points.

The third quarter was very similar to the second. The Hawks’ defense was hard on the Bobcats, only allowing them to score eight points total through the third quarter. The Hawks scored 12 points total. Each team kept fighting hard, not allowing any strong consecutive drives. The Hawks simply had the lead, and were a bit more physical during the second half of the game.

Starting off the fourth, with the Hawks at 39 and the Bobcats at 24, it looked pretty clear who was going to win the night. Again it was a slow battle, with neither team making a huge point gain. Each team fought hard, and it became a slug fest to see who could stop the other from scoring high. Thompson Falls was slightly more physical, and its defense was hard on the Bobcats from Superior. The final score was Thompson Falls 51, Superior 31.

Tanner Laws scored three 3-pointers throughout the night and scored a total of 15 points, the highest of the night. Trais Hoisington scored 14 points total.

“I think our defense played real well tonight... That was probably our best defense game so far,” said Coach Mickelson.
