The Plains Trotters verses Eureka Lady Lions was won decisively by the Trotters Saturday night.

For those who were there, a good game played out before their eyes, where the Trotters climbed easily into a lead and played hard the entire game.

“They played good team basketball on the offensive side. Our defense had some holes in it, but we tried hard. It was good team basketball,” said Coach Griffin. He also praised everyone for playing hard and getting right into the game after being on the bench.

The crowd went wild even during the first quarter as the Trotters fought hard to take the lead. They scored first and quickly took the lead as the Lions could not move past one point until 2:40 minutes left on the clock.

Plains had worked its way up to nine points by the middle of the quarter and finished it with 12 points. Eureka only had five.

The second quarter was even better for the Trotters than the first. The Trotters received many fouls, and racked up five points on free throws. They then scored 10 more points from the field. The Lions could only score eight points the entire quarter. The score at the half was Plains 27, Eureka 13.

The Trotters could be seen leaving the court at half-time content and eager to continue.

The third quarter was a great quarter for the team. It got off a little slow during the first four minutes, with the Trotters scoring only four points. The Lions picked up the pace a bit and added seven points to the board.

Then the Trotters jumped ahead and quickly scored multiple times, and racking up another 12 points, while the Lions only gained five points. The score was Plains 43, Eureka 25.

The crowd was going wild and continued to cheer the entire time. Coach Griffin could be heard over the crowd giving orders.

The fourth quarter was very similar to the previous three, with the Trotters gaining another 15 points, while the Lions could only make five more points. The final score was the Trotters with 58, and the Lions with 30.

By the end of the game, Carley VonHeeder had scored a total of 14 points and Hailey Phillips scored 11 points to help the team win big over the Lions.
