Trotters and Lady Savage Heat battle it out

HOT SPRINGS - To start off the Saturday game between the Plains Trotters and the Hot Springs Lady Savage Heat, the Trotters quickly gained a lead over the Heat. The Trotters gained 15 points by the middle of the first quarter, while the Heat worked on getting into form. Around the two and a half minute mark, Hot Springs put its first points on the board with two free throws by Stacy Gray. Then with a minute left, the Heat scored another two points, finishing the first quarter score with 4 points, against the Trotters, with 19.

The second quarter was a strong quarter for the Trotters, who scored consistently throughout. Their defense was strong and made hard drives after quickly recovering rebounds. The Heat fought hard with what they had. Josey Carr, their captain was reported to be sick by Coach Hunter. “It was a tough game, Josey wasn’t healthy...” said Coach Hunter after the game.

The Trotters finished the second quarter gaining an extra 19 points, taking their score to 38. Fighting hard, the Heat still remained at 4 points.

Coming out of the locker room after half-time, the Trotters looked confident about the game. The score of 38 to 4 stood for several minutes during the third quarter. At 4:53 on the clock the first points were scored by Jessica Thompson of the Trotters, who made two points from free throws. The Heat doubled their score in the second half of the third quarter, taking them to 8 points by the end. Carr made 2 points right at the end of the quarter, which helped the team. The Trotters finished with 46 points.

The top scorer of the night was Jessica Thompson, wo scored 14 points. Jade Ladeaux scored 8 points.

The fourth quarter was similar to the third. The Trotters gained a total of 10 points, making their final score 56. Carr scored one point from a free throw adding a point to the Heat’s score, making their final score 9. Carr scored 5 of the 9 points.
