Lady Savage Heat play Charlo

Hot Springs - The Saturday night game between the Hot Springs Lady Savage Heat and Charlo started off with something very special. It was Senior night, which meant that before the game started, the players who were seniors were escorted out to center court by their parents.
An announcer read a thank you note written by each senior player, and small gifts were given to their parents. Bios of the players were also read. Once photos were taken, the girl’s game began.
The Heat held on for a long time in the first quarter, not allowing Charlo to score quickly, preventing Charlo from creating a large point gap. Each time the Heat thwarted their opponents attempted shots, the stands went crazy. Coach Hunter could be heard yelling above the cheers, giving direction as the girls gave their best.
By the end of the first, the score was, the Heat 4, Charlo with 13.
The Heat kept up their fight into the second quarter against their strong opponents. Just before the halfway point of the second quarter, the Heat scored their next two-pointer taking their score to 6. Everyone stood and cheered for the Heat. Hot Springs fought hard defensively against their opponents, but at half-time the score was, the Heat with 6, Charlo with 30.
In the third the Heat came back from the half-time break determined to give it all they had. They allowed Charlo only 11 points the entire third quarter. The Heat picked up offensively and scored four points. This made the score in the third quarter 10 to 41.
The Heat played their best offensively in the fourth quarter, making five points. The Bulldogs made 12 points in the fourth. The final score was, the Heat with 15, the Bulldogs with 53.
Josey Carr, who played almost the entire game, scored six points throughout the night. Last week she was sick and came back ready to help lead her team in their fight against the strong Charlo team, Saturday night.
“They played pretty good defense. They just need to rebound... Our defense is solid, but we let them get too many second shots. We see them again on Thursday in districts.” said Coach Hunter.
