PABLO – The no. 3 seeded Superior Lady Bobcats faced off against the no. 6 seeded Noxon Lady Red Devils to kick off the girls’ District 14-C tournament in Pablo last week.

Though Superior defeated Noxon 61-16, the Lady Red Devils moved to the consolation bracket where they faced off against the Hot Springs Lady Savage Heat.

In a hard fought elimination game the Lady Red Devils earned the win against the Lady Savage Heat, using a big final quarter to win 38-29.

The Lady Red Devils distanced themselves from the Lady Savage Heat in the second quarter, taking a 22-15 lead into the half.

However, the Lady Savage Heat began the second half with a strong quarter, outscoring Noxon 10-5 to narrow the lead to 27-25.

Clinging to a one possession lead, the game was in the balance, but Noxon used an 11-4 run in the fourth quarter to advance into the next round of the consolation bracket.

Senior McKenna Krueger led the Red Devils offense with 17 points, while freshman Cory Brodmerkle added eight points in Noxon’s win.

Senior Josey Carr led the offense for the Lady Savage Heat, ending the game with 15 points.

Freshman Mikayla Mueller added five points for Hot Springs.

Hoping to keep their Divisional C tournament hopes alive the Noxon Lady Red Devils went up against the St. Regis Lady Tigers last Saturday.

In a back and forth contest against the Lady Tigers, Noxon fell just short as St. Regis used a late surge of offense to secure the 44-38 win.

The Lady Tigers opened with a 9-6 lead, but the Lady Red Devils refused to go away and at the half the score was still very close, with St. Regis leading 24-21.

The Lady Red Devils kept up the pressure as the second half got underway, and at the start of the game’s final frame, the score was tied at 31-31.

The Lady Tigers used a surge of their own in the fourth to squeeze by Noxon 44-38.

Krueger led the Lady Red Devils with 22 points of offense.
