Bluehawks run to victory

THOMPSON FALLS – The Bluehawks of Thompson Falls rolled through their competition last weekend downing the Libby Loggers to improve to 8-3 on the season.

Thompson Falls got off to a quick start in their home game against their Class A opponents and never looked back, cruising to a 64-34 victory.

The Bluehawks went on a 22-10 run to start the game and built on their lead in the second quarter of play to bring the score to 36-19 at the half.

The halftime break didn’t slow down the Thompson Falls offense and the home team burst out to a 22-4 run to start the second half, entering the final quarter with the 58-23 advantage.

The Thompson Falls boys added eight points in the final quarter to bring their final tally up to 64 points.

Junior forward Trais Hoisington led the Thompson Falls attack and had a big night on the offensive side of the court, scoring 20 points on the night for the Bluehawks.

Junior guard Corey Tessier also provided a substantial amount of offensive output for the Bluehawks, ending the evening with 11 points.

Following the big win against Libby, the Bluehawks went on the road to face off against the Florence Falcons.

The Bluehawks held the lead well into the third quarter but the hosts from Florence managed to rally and secure a 59-42 win over Thompson Falls.

The Falcons jumped out to an early lead and held the 12-8 advantage heading into the second quarter of play.

Thompson Falls responded in the second quarter, outscoring Florence 16-9 to bring the score to 24-21 in favor of the Bluehawks at the half.

The Bluehawks maintained their lead through a portion of the third quarter but it was Florence who led the game 40-34 at the start of the game’s final quarter.

Thompson Falls could not launch a rally of their own to retake the lead and Florence was able to secure the win by outscoring the Bluehawks 19-8 in the game’s fourth frame.

Junior guard Tanner Laws led the Bluehawks offense during the road game earning 16 points during the weekend contest.

Hoisington also contributed on the offensive end, finishing the game with ten points.

Thompson Falls record now stands at 8-4 on the season.

Up next for the Thompson Falls boys will be a home game against the Superior Bobcats on Friday, Jan. 30 in Thompson Falls.
