THOMPSON FALLS - Friday morning at 10:30am, a generous gift was donated to the Sanders County Coalition for Families (SCCFF).

A check of $897.28 was given to the SCCF by the General Federation of Women’s Clubs of Montana (GFWCM), Thompson Falls Woman’s Club.

The SCCFF’s Mission Statement of the Sanders County Coalition for Families, taken from their FaceBook page is: “...to provide a safe haven & supportive services to victims or survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and child abuse.”

During the GFWCM Western Division Spring meeting, held at the New Life Fellowship and organized by the Thompson Falls Club, there was a silent basket auction and a live auction held by Dave and Deb Oliver.

Each club from the Western Montana district donated a basket and other items for the auctions.

Since the Thompson Falls Woman’s Club hosted the Spring meeting, they were allowed to choose which organization would receive the money raised.

The SCCFF receives grants, but is not allowed to use the money to directly fund any of its clients. Therefore, the money raised by the Thompson Falls Woman’s Club is used instead, to directly support a person or family in need of financial help, whether it is for travel, food or any other expenditure.

At the meeting, where the check was passed from club President Renee Sieben and other members to the coalition at the SCCFF office in Thompson Falls, it was discussed just how important the donation was.

In addition to the value of helping those in need, it was pointed out how the money will also help strengthen the community and the economy, as it is spent.
