TROUT CREEK – Last weekend Trout Creek was full of vintage automobiles as the Cool Summer Nights car show was held on the shores of the Noxon Reservoir at the Lakeside Motel.

The annual car show took place over two days with live music following the auto shows on both days.

According to John Harris, owner of the Lakeside Motel, 25 cars were registered for the Friday evening show and over 55 cars were registered for the Saturday afternoon showing with several other cars joining the field.

Harris was pleased with how the event turned out and the crowd the show drew to Trout Creek.

“Turnout was great. Each year it keeps getting bigger and better,” Harris said.

The “Rockin Hot Rods” provided music on both days of the show and Harris noted he was impressed with the group and they will be invited back for next year’s car show.

The Cool Summer Nights show is scheduled to take place the third weekend in July every summer.

At this year’s show the people’s choice award went to Rick Bloomdahl and his 1935 International truck.

There were also prizes handed out to the Top 12 cars, all of which were voted on during the show.

Several local participants placed in the top 12, including Charlie Shelor of Trout Creek and his 1965 Pontiac GTO, Jim and Tamara Hamill of Thompson Falls and their 1966 Ford Fairlane GT, Ron Petrie of Thompson Falls and his 1941 Ford pickup, Chad Pardee of Thompson Falls and his 1967 Chevelle and Margaret Smallwood and her 1963 Thunderbird.

A wide variety of automotive models took part in the annual car show with models from the 1920s accompanying brand new 2015 model roadsters.

Jack Shiplett of Idaho traveled from the Silver Valley in his 1929 Ford for his first Cool Summer Nights show.

“It’s been a great show,” Shiplett said.

He has owned the 1929 model Ford for eight years and regularly attends car throws throughout the region.

As the show wound to a conclusion the classic cars fired up their engines and dispersed closing out a successful weekend in Trout Creek.
