TARKIO – World War II veteran Walter Louis Robb Jr., 91, of Tarkio, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at the Living Centre in Stevensville. He was born in Superior on July 4, 1924, to Walter and Florence (McDonald) Robb. He graduated from Superior High School in 1942. Walt served with the 82nd Airborne Division, 504 Parachute Infantry, in France, Germany and Belgium. He spent 11 months as a scout behind enemy lines. Due to medical problems, he was sent back to the States just prior to his 21st birthday. Walt worked for many years in the logging industry, where he was known as an excellent sawyer and cat skinner. He married Cecilia Tolley in 1945. They later divorced. He married Jacqueline Hankinson Boyes in 1960. Walt was well known for his work ethic and attention to detail. Walt is survived by his wife, Jackie Robb; daughters, Peggy (Pat) Bare of Kelowna, British Columbia, and Sandi (John) Vanni of Great Falls; son, John Robb of Missoula; sister, Betty (Francis) Benway of Hayden, Idaho; a favorite cousin, Louise Miles of Superior; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his former wife, his son David and an infant granddaughter. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 25, at the veterans section of Superior Cemetery.  A celebration of life was followed at the Superior Senior Center.
