Local artist takes third in state contest

SUPERIOR – A local artist was recognized last week after she finished tied for third place in a statewide art contest sponsored by an organization that works to educate the public about energy needs in the state of Montana.
Kylie Quick, a fourth-grader from Superior Elementary School, was awarded for her artistic merit in the annual Energy Share art contest. She received $25.00 and a certificate from Energy Share board member Jim Maunder and program coordinator Deb Hayes.
Quick tied for third with a student from Billings. Her drawing depicted a before and after scenario with a family suffering in the cold without heat to a scene with the same family comfortable and happy in a house with heat. Quick’s teacher was also presented with a $25.00 gift certificate for school supplies.
Energy Share is an organization that raises awareness about thousands of Montanans who struggle with meeting their winter heating needs due to reduced hours or wages, unemployment, medical issues or other hardships. The organization is a non-profit whose stated goal is to raise and distribute funds to help families in need. The art contest is part of Energy Share’s efforts to educate the public about the energy needs across Montana.
