Re your headline from last week: CSKT Compact Passage will prevent litigation
Please read between the lines! Coyle’s letter is just another thinly veiled threat - One thing is guaranteed, the tribe(s) will sue period. She is correct, the lawyers will be busy for eternity, either with or without the new treaty, er Compact.
Perhaps we need to redo the past bad laws that seem to guarantee all this litigation (ie Montana Legal Retirement Fund). Here’s a thought, lets start by rescinding all the old indian treaties! If this so called compact is so perfect, why does it protect the drafters and the legislature from future lawsuits should it be found illegal?
