Lady Hawks hit their stride

THOMPSON FALLS – The Thompson Falls Lady Hawks hosted the Mission-Arlee-Charlo Bulldogs last Friday in a hard fought game.

The game started quickly with the Bulldogs putting up three runs in the game’s opening frame.

The Lady Hawks didn’t take long to score a few runs of their own, answering with one run in the bottom of the first and three runs in the bottom of the second inning to take a 4-2 lead.

The Bulldogs earned one run back in the third, shrinking the Thompson Falls lead to 4-3.

MAC regained the lead with a three run frame in the top of the fourth to make things 6-4 in favor of the Bulldogs.

In the bottom of the fourth the Lady Hawks were able to rally for a run but were unable to tie the game as reliever RanDee Charlo slammed the door for the bulldogs in the game’s final innings.

Senior Madi Fitchett pitched a complete game for Thompson Falls, earning 12 strikeouts from the circle.

Freshman infielder Lexi Van Elswyk led the Lady Hawks offense against MAC, ending the game going 2-4 at the plate with two RBIs.

Junior infielder Tamara Brubaker and freshman outfielder Shelby Hooten also added RBIs for Thompson Falls against the Bulldogs.

The girls of Thompson Falls were back in action on the softball diamond last Saturday, playing a doubleheader in Drummond.

The Lady Hawks earned big wins in both sets of the doubleheader defeating the hosts by scores of 15-3 and 17-1 respectively.

Fitchett pitched the Lady Hawks to wins in both games, relinquishing only one hit in each of the day’s games.

She struck out 14 Drummond batters in the first portion of the doubleheader and sat down 11 opposing hitters via the strikeout in the second game of the weekend matchup.

Van Elswyk led the Thompson Falls offense in the day’s first game, going 2-5 at the dish with two RBIs.

Fitchett and Hooten both doubled in the opening win against Drummond.

In game two the Lady Hawks got offensive output from up and down their lineup, with several batters contributing to the 17 run tally.

Van Elswyk ended the game a perfect 3-3 at the plate with three RBIs.

Freshman backstop Haley Morgan was 3-4 and also drove in three RBIs for the Lady Hawks.

Brubaker and sophomore Linda Schimming ended the final game against Drummond with two RBIs apiece.
