SANDERS COUNTY - Tuesday morning, a tractor trailer hauling approximately 15 tons of Washington Apples ran off Highway 200 near mile marker 87. After running off the road the tractor trailer fell onto its side, popping the top off the top of the trailor, spilling out boxes of apples.

Plains Paradise Community Ambulance, Highway Patrol, Sanders County Search and Rescue and Sanders County Emergency Services responded.

Once Sanders County Emergency Services cleaned all the spilled diesel and other fluids, which amounted to five gallons, Big Sky Wrecking took over to cleanup the apples and get the tractor trailor out of the ditch.

The operation started mid morning and lasted into the evening.

The apples that were not smashed were taken to a food bank and given to the nearby rancher.
