Ellen Haskins Trujillo, 68, peacefully ascended into heaven on May 11, 2015. She was born Ellen Carol Hankinson on June 23, 1946 in Missoula, Montana. She attended and graduated high school in Superior, Montana. She later went on to obtain her Law Degree from the School of Law at the University of Montana. After graduating from college in Missoula, Ellen moved to Walsenburg, Colorado where she established her law practice.  Though Ellen had no biological children of her own, she dedicated part of her career to helping many children as a Guardian Ad Litem.

Ellen was an extremely hard-working, dedicated and determined person. She proved this time and time again. She fought her way through kidney failure, dialysis, and eventually a kidney transplant from her brother Jim Hankinson in 1998. After her recovery, Ellen went on to serve as an elected county judge for Huerfano County, Colorado until she retired in 2010.

Ellen touched many lives and will be missed by many. She is preceded in death by her father William Harris Hankinson. She is survived by her loving and dedicated husband of 28 years, Paul Martinez; her mother, Sarah Audrey Peden; her brothers, William (Evalie) Hankinson and James Hankinson; along with countless friends. Services have been held in Colorado and a Memorial Service is planned for her Montana family and friends May 23, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Assembly of God Church in Superior, Montana.
