Red Devils and Savage Heat compete at State Meet

LAUREL – The Laurel Sports Complex played host to the State C Track Meet last week as the boys of Noxon Red Devils and Hot Springs Savage Heat competed in the competition near Billings.

Athletes from both the Red Devils and the Savage Heat found themselves on the podium after strong performances over the two-day meet.

Noxon ended the tournament in eleventh place with 16 points and Hot Springs finished just behind, tied for twelfth place with Fairview, both Hot Springs and Fairview ended the meet with 13 points.

Bradey Wilson led the Red Devils on day one of competition taking second place n the 800-meter event.

Wilson clocked in at 1:58.25 to earn his spot on the podium.

Trevor Paro of Hot Springs took fourth in the long jump event, placing with a jump of 20-9 ¾.

Savage Heat senior Anthony Byrns also placed on day one, taking fifth in the 400-meter event with a time of 51.75.

On day two Wilson earned another second place finish at the meet for Noxon, finishing the 1,600-meter event with a time of 4:34.86.

The Savage Heat were well represented on day two by Paro and Byrns.

Paro took fifth in the triple jump event with a jump of 41-9 ¾ and Byrns placed sixth in the 200-meter event, crossing the finish line with a time of 23.04.

The Hot Springs relay team also had a big day taking fourth in the 400-meter relay, clocking in at 45.94.

During the State C Meet, Wilson the lone representative from Noxon, took part in the 300-meter hurdles, 800-meters and 1,600-meter competitions.

For Hot Springs Byrns took part in the 100-meter, 200-meter and 400-meter events, in addition to the relay competition.

Paro competed in both the triple jump and long jump and senior Tanner Hoff competed in the high jump competition last weekend in Laurel.   

Last week’s state meet in the eastern end of the state wrapped up a successful track and field season for both teams who placed a number of athletes in competitions throughout the spring.
