PLAINS – Edward Burnham, 82, of Plains, passed away at his home on Sunday, October 25, 2015 following a long battle with colon cancer.

Ed was born on January 17, 1933 to John and Dicie Burnham at the family home in Plains. He graduated from Plains High School in 1951. He spent time working in Alaska after graduation and then served in the Korean War in the tank corps and became a tank commander. He married Candice Cole in 1963 and they had one son, Edward Burnham Jr. in 1964.

Ed spent his life as a logger and worked many jobs in the Sanders and Mineral County areas. He enjoyed the outdoors, finding the best huckleberry picking spot, listening to what he called his “hillbilly” music, eating cinnamon rolls, and most importantly, spending time with his grandson.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Candice; brothers Evan Burnham and Charlie Burnham and sister Dorothy Johnson.

He is survived by his brother, John Burnham of Tok, Alaska; son Edward Burnham Jr. and wife Lisa of Plains; grandson Connor and numerous nieces and nephews.

At his request, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made either to the Cancer Network of Sanders County or the Ronald McDonald House, Missoula.

Sunset Hill Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
