Over the past few years, the West End Fire District had been overpaid $22,832.28 due to computer glitches in 2013 and 2014.  Now the county would like the funds back.

Fire District members Mark Waseen, John Carpenter, Robert Dahl and Helen Tooker approached the Commissioners at their November 13 meeting asking if the funds could be returned on a repayment schedule rather than all at once.

Tooker detailed the fire district’s budget and said that if they have to pay the funds back in one lump sum, then they will be forced to send bills to the county.  They asked the Commissioners if they would consider a repayment schedule of $4,000 per year.

The request has been put on the December 4 Commissioners regular meeting. The Mineral Community Hospital would also like to discuss this issue and will attend the December meeting, according to Commissioner Laurie Johnston.
