Montana still in severe drought

Storm weather watch reports are starting to show up, including a storm starting Tuesday and heading into Wednesday. This coming off a weekend of temperatures ranging from the mid 30’s to 40’s during the day, and freezing temperatures at night.

But don’t get out the snow blowers, just yet.  According to Jim Ward, from the Superior Ranger District, Montana is still in the severe drought category and “the three month outlook still is not encouraging, with below normal precipitation and above normal temperatures.”

This prediction seems to be backed up by the Farmer’s Almanac, which is also predicting winter temperatures above normal, with precipitation near normal.  With the coldest periods being mid to late December, late January, and mid and late February.  

More specific temperatures predictions seems to be on track, as well, with the Almanac predicting November 22-26 with periods of rain and snow and mild temperatures, with rain the 27th through the 30th.

December is showing rain and snow showers the 1st through the 15th, with a cold spell the 11th through the 15th. 

December 16 through the 19th will be sunny and cold. 

Christmas week, December 20 through the 24th will have snow shows and mild weather, and the 25th until the end of the month will have snow and very cold temperatures.
