Members of the Mineral County 4-H and the Mineral County Shooting Association worked to cut down trees this weekend.  The job had a dual purpose.  One was to help clear a tract of land that is being developed into a new shooting range, the other is to sell the trees for Christmas as a fundraiser.

The land is located near the Lozeau exit and is the result of a partnership with Axeman.  They are working to lease the land to the Mineral County Shooting Association. According to Frank Raine, who’s helping to coordinate the project, this is a newly formed endeavor.  The group’s first banquet was held on September 17th at the St. Regis Community Center where 175 community members attended.

The range will be open to the public and it will also be used by the Mineral County 4-H shooting team.

The Christmas trees will be sold throughout the area, with funds raised to help support the shooting team, as well as to help create the range.  Trees will go on sale this week.
