County 4H shooters take second place in competition

SUPERIOR – The Mineral County 4H Shooting Sports team came out on top in their National Air Rifle League competition against American Legion Post 113, putting them in second place.

The team took a score of 999, beating American Legion by 12 points. The top scores were made by Jonna Warnken with 267 points. According to Coach Don Warnken, the competition was early in the season, but the members of the team were already making personal bests.

“I’m really happy with where everyone’s headed,” said Coach Warnken. 

The team also had another competition against American Legion Post 113 last week. The Mineral County 4H shooters came out on top again with a team score of 990, beating their competition by a greater margin. The American Legion came away with a team score of 689. 

The wins put the team at 1-0 in the league with a season average of 994.50.

The Mineral County 4H Shooting Sports team’s next competition will be against the team representing Manville Sportsman’s Rod and Gun Club. They are currently 0-1 in the league. There are approximately six competitions left in the season.
