PLAINS - Tuesday night the Plains Trotters took on the St. Regis Lady Tigers in a match that would last four sets.

The first set was close from the get go. Plains and St. Regis stayed neck and neck throughout most of the set with Plains just holding a small lead. Multiple times the Tigers would catch up and tie with the Trotters. Only at 18 points, when the Trotters were ahead by two points, did they break ahead and get a number of consecutive scores, finishing the first set at 25-19.

The second set started with St. Regis jumping into a strong lead. The Tigers lead the way with nine points and Plains with 5 points. Out of nowhere, Plains put up a strong offense and tied up at nine points. St. Regis fought back, gaining the lead, but couldn’t hold it and Plains passed them at 11 points. Then at 14 points, the Tigers passed the Trotters, who fell behind. It looked like the Tigers would win. Again, Plains caught up and passed the Tigers at 21 points and won the set, 25-21.

Plains only needed to win one more set to win the match, but by no means was it over. St. Regis gave the performance of the night in the third set.

The Trotters tried to keep up with the Tigers, but St. Regis just climbed and climbed. The Tigers led the way at 12-4 before Plains caught up a couple points, but then St. Regis spiked and blocked their way to a set win at 25-9.

In the last set, Plains took the lead and held it till St. Regis caught up and tied at 12 points. The Tigers then pushed ahead and Plains had to play catch-up and tied at 19 points. The Trotters would finish the set 25-23 and win the game.
