Last week there was a post on Facebook warning neighbors to be on the lookout for a man who was posing as a Dish ad DirectTV employee. Reports indicate that he was going door-to-door in the neighborhoods of Alberton and Superior, telling people that he could give them a better rate on their satellite services.

He convinced victims to give him their debit or credit card information before driving away in his blue Prius with Washington license plates. The Mineral County sheriff’s department said that they had not received any complaints about the man.

These types of scams are nothing new, and a red flag that it may be one is that the individual requires an up-front payment. DirectTV and Dish say that they will never do that. If you feel you have been approached by a fraudulent individual either in person or by phone, contact the company directly for verification. Also contact local authorities with any suspicious behavior.
