Darby Haskins wins Round Robin Showmanship Award

Darby Haskins won the Round Robin Showmanship Award at this year’s Mineral County 4-H competition.

In 2005, Frank York, a 4–H supporter, created the Round Robin Showmanship Award.

Top showmanship contenders gather after the initial livestock judging in individual categories is over. Contestants meet with judges and are required to answer questions and show livestock in various categories.

They must show a horse, swine, steer and a goat. The winner will receive a ribbon, as well as get their name on a plaque which hangs in the livestock barn. The plaque has a photo of York with the inscription “His unyielding support and efforts to further the education of the youth in Mineral County is exemplified in the Round Robin Sportsmanship winner. May his love for all creatures be carried on by the contest participants and the winners of this competition.”

This year’s winner was Darby Haskins. Haskins name will join the ranks of previous winners: Cody Hollenback, Travis Stroot, Lyndi Isher, Billy Smith, Madison Hill, and Mary Grace Donally.
