The Plains boys and girls both swept their way to undefeated weekends as the basketball season began in earnest for region teams.

Western C Tip-Off

PABLO — The Trotters clamped down defensively, allowing just 34 combined points in two wins at the Western C Tip-Off showcase Friday and Saturday.

Plains scored 38 first-half points in drubbing Valley Christian 64-24 on Friday, then silenced Victor with a 46-10 win Saturday.

Lindsay Laws led the Trotters with 25 points against Valley Christian and added 11 points versus Victor.

In other girls action at the event, Hot Springs bounced back from a 27-15 loss to Drummond on Friday to beat Lincoln 35-29 in second-day action.

McKenzie Cannon scored 16 points in the Savage Heat win.

Noxon was edged 34-32 by Darby Friday and lost again on Saturday, 40-26.

Kamber Torti led Noxon with 16 points against Darby.

IN BOYS ACTION, the Horsemen were just as impressive as their counterparts, routing Victor, 61-10, on Friday and taking care of Drummond, 67-33, Saturday.

Four Plains players scored in double-figures against Victor: Ryan Ovitt (14), Jay Von Heeder (12), Tanner Ovitt (11) and Alec Cole (11). The Horsemen led Friday’s game 40-6 at halftime.

Ryan Ovitt again led Plains on Saturday, scoring 24 points in a lopsided win. The Horsemen outscored Drummond 24-4 in the third quarter to pull away.

Elsewhere, Noxon beat Clark Fork 45-21 on Friday before falling 49-35 to Valley Christian the next day. Quincy Grupenhoff led Noxon with 12 points in the loss.

Hot Springs also picked up a win, beating 56-48 on Saturday. Trevor Paro scored 19 points and Pedro Gardemann added 13 in the win.

Three Forks Invitational

THREE FORKS — The Thompson Falls boys and girls had a rough weekend at the Three Forks Invitational, going 0-4 at the two-day event.

The Blue Hawks boys lost 60-34 to host Three Forks on Friday before falling 74-55 to Twin Bridges Saturday. Danny Hoisington scored a game-high 27 points in Saturday’s loss. Payton Frields added 13.

The girls fared no better against the same two opponents, falling 60-40 to Three Forks and 71-32 against Twin Bridges.

Ember Schwindt led the Blue Hawks with eight points on Saturday.
