| December 14, 2016 4:00 AM

Laura (Sunny) Leslie Olfert passed peacefully on Dec. 1, 2016, in her home with her kids by her side, joining her late husband Ronald D. Olfert.

Sunny was born Oct. 22, 1945, in Salem, Oregon, to Father Wilfred Leslie Ward and Edna Irene Warren.

She was a teacher for many years in Portland, Oregon, and her students loved her, and she loved each and every one of them and knew them all by name. Sunny was well-known in her small community as a prayer warrior and a genuine follower of Christ. One of her passions was to see the word being spread through YNOP (Your Network of Praise) Christian radio station by making financial donations to them. She has positively impacted the lives of many people.

Sunny is survived by her children, Paul Boeckel, of Montana, and Yvonne and Jeff McCammon, of Oregon; stepchildren, Kevin and Robin Olfert, Jeff and Caroline Olfert and Melissa Olfert; grandchildren, Justin Hoppell, Summer Pierce, Brant Olfert, Taylor Olfert, Lucas Olfert, Jenna Olfert, Samantha Marquardt-Brown, Skyla Write, Alyssa Welch, Gregory Olfert; and great-grandchildren, Autumn, Jordan and Dillon Olfert. She is also survived by her adopted daughter, Kari and Doug Bauer, and their children, Austin, Dillon, Isaac, Daniel, Hannah, Kyla, Abigail, Brent, Bridger and Gracie; and her cat, Olaf, and loving dog, Kip.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016, at 1 p.m. at Plains Bible Chapel. Donations can be made in Sunny’s memory to YNOP through Erma Stienbeck.
