Mildred “Millie” Ruth Nielsen was born Aug. 6, 1937 in Bell, Calif. She passed away on Oct. 24, 2016.

She was raised in the Yucca Valley area and graduated from Twenty-Nine Palms High School in 1955. After graduation the family moved to Banning and she went to work at the Bank of Beaumont where she met her husband, Jack Nielsen, in 1959.

Millie did the books for the Nielsen family business of Summit Service gas station for 20-plus years, then Summit Auto Parts from 1980 to 1992. She also worked at Child Help USA in Beaumont during this time, all while raising four children. She and Jack retired to Montana in 1996.

Millie enjoyed traveling in their motor home. She always welcomed people with open arms and had a radiant smile. Our lives are eternally enriched through her roles as a wife, mother and friend.
