Tree lighting highlighted with snowfall in Alberton

Fourth Annual Winter Festival hosted by the PEAK Foundation was held in Alberton on Dec. 9. It was an “opportunity to come together to celebrate life and love”, according to their Facebook post promoting the event.
It was held outside the town’s community center and started after dark. A big part of the evening is lighting the long strings of Christmas lights strung on the large pine tree which towers in the front of the building. The tree lighting was highlighted by a steady snowfall. Inside, games were set up for families to play, along with a potluck dinner and a bake sale put on by the kids.
During the evening, Alberton resident, Brooke Barnett held a tree lighting reading. People were also encouraged to bring a candle to light and place beneath the tree in remembrance of a loved one who has passed.
“Holiday’s bring joy but can also remind us of the great loss we have experienced,” their FB post read.
PEAK members said the event went well and they were really excited because it was the first time it had snowed during the event.
