Plains boys, girls blow out Darby

PLAINS RYAN OVITT holds the ball and looks for a teammate during Thursdays game against Darby.

The Trotters outscored the Darby Lady Tigers in the first and third quarters and won 41-20 on Thursday.

The Plains defense held the Lady Tigers to single-digit scores every quarter and allowed only two players to score the entire game. Several times during the game, the Trotters sped down the court with the Lady Tigers trailing behind them.

The Trotters scored double-digits in the first and fourth quarters. The Plains offense was very active with five players scoring points during the fast-paced game. Kara Altmiller of Plains was the leading offensive player for the Trotters with 18 points.

The Plains Horsemen started the first quarter very rapidly, stunning the Darby Tigers players and coach. Darby coach Sean Bryers called the first timeout of the game, as his team found itself behind the quick and high-scoring Horsemen players.

Jay Von Heeder, Alec Cole and seven other players kept the Horsemen undefeated (6-0) in Class C basketball.
