Louisiana man died in one-car crash on Montana 200

A 58-year-old Louisiana man died in a one-car accident on Montana 200 at mile marker 80 on Friday, Dec. 23, at 9:28 p.m., the Montana Highway Patrol reported.

The road conditions were snow covered and ice covered at the time.

The Highway Patrol reported that the man was driving a Ford Explorer westbound when he lost control of the vehicle as he was driving around the bend, hitting the guardrail. The Explorer then tipped onto the passenger side and spun 180 degrees until it came to rest back on all four of the wheels. The driver of the Explorer was ejected from the vehicle during the spin, as he wasn’t wearing his seatbelt.

A second vehicle, a Honda CRV was heading westbound when the driver saw the Ford Explorer in his lane. The driver of the CRV moved to the right of the Ford Explorer, but did not see the other driver, who had been ejected onto the highway and was run over. The driver and passengers in the Honda CRV were not injured or transported to any hospital. According to the Highway Patrol, both speed and alcohol may have been involved in the accident and it continues to be investigated at this time.
