New and old faces on Alberton town council

The town of Alberton will continue to remain free from tyranny and social oppression thanks in part to Joe Hanson, who has once again agreed to serve on the town council.

Elections for town council were held in November. Richard Hader was on the ballot for one of two open positions. That left one open seat that needed to be filled. Hanson won the election because he received more write-in votes than anyone else (which totaled four). When asked why he agreed to fill the position, Hanson who has been on the town council over a dozen times, and has been elected as Mayor three times, and was the town judge years ago, responded “I didn’t want to let down my constituents”.

Indeed, Hanson did not let them down.  Hanson joined Jaime Odell and Hader as newly elected council members.  

Town Council seats are four-year terms and are staggered and so there is only two open seats per election cycle. Odell was sworn in for the remainder of Adam Cole’s position which will end in December 2017. Cole’s seat opened up when he moved away from Alberton.

Hanson and Hader’s terms will run until 2019. The fourth council member is John Bigart III, whose term will be up in 2017.  Currently, Alberton’s Mayor is Josh Acker.
