THOMPSON FALLS – The Thompson Falls boys brought in a strong victory against the Eureka Lions last week, with one of their first home games of 2016.

The Bluehawks started off gaining an early lead, though both teams played well. The Lions kept close, but Thompson Falls was able to keep ahead. Both teams had a strong defense, stealing the ball and moving well; Thompson Falls broke away, though, and opened to a 10-point lead and beyond. The first quarter closed with a score of 21-5 to the Bluehawks.

As the second quarter opened, the home team opened their lead to 20 points; they made great passes, often sending the ball across the court over the heads of the opposition. The Bluehawks’ defense kept up their strength while Eureka’s began falling behind. Their lead kept increasing until the half closed at 45-9 after a three point basket at the buzzer by Tanner Laws.

As the second half opened, the Lions were able to bring a stronger game all around. The Eureka guys put pressure on the Bluehawks, keeping them from opening their lead much more. They brought in a few more points of their own, closing the quarter at 57-13.

The final quarter saw Eureka starting to recover. The home team defense was still strong, though, and they quickly halted the advance. The guys broke back ahead, pushing past the Lions to close the game with a final score of 65-17.
