THOMSPON FALLS – The Bluehawks suffered two losses last week, but plan to come back stronger than before.

Both games were close. The team lost to Bigfork 57-61 and to Whitefish 48-44. Head Coach Jake Mickelson recalled they had some diversity to deal with as they struggled to shoot the ball well. He said it was not anything they do not normally encountered during basketball, so nothing was too serious; the boys are expected to come out more experienced and a better team.

“You learn a lot from them,” he said. “It helps us out in preparing for this week.”

The whole team played a hard game during both. The coach felt it was just random adversity that comes up in everything and there was not much to be done to fix it, but it all made the wins more enjoyable. He said the options were to improve from it or let it be a defeat and the Bluehawks were ready to improve.

Thursday, the Thompson Falls boys play a home game against the Plains Horsemen. Plains is a big rivalry, but now conference standing will be less at stake after the Horsemen moved to Class C this year. According to Mickelson, the guys are very excited to have Plains up for a game and expect a good time.

“When Plains and Thompson Falls get together, you can usually throw the records out the window,” he said. “It turns into a good old cross county battle; it’s a lot of fun to be a part of.”

Saturday, they play against the Libby Lions again. They played the team right before winter break and Libby has a good team. The coach said they get better and better all the time and it should be a good rematch.

During practices this week, the Bluehawks have been working to improving in all aspects of the game to prepare for this week’s games.
