THOMPSON FALLS – The Bluehawks triumphed in their rivalry game against the Plains Horsemen, Thursday, winning the game with a 30-point lead.

Thompson Falls came out with an early lead, scoring a three-point basket right out of the gate. Plains kept close, though, getting two points of their own soon after. The home team had a strong offense, though and quickly started pulling ahead; their steals kept the ball in their possession through much of the quarter. The Horsemen fought hard, though, and remained close. As the clock ticked down, Thompson Falls pushed hard and started pulling ahead to close the quarter at 17-10 to the Bluehawks.

As the second quarter started, Plains made a push to come back; the bluehawks were able to keep ahead, though, holding at a nine-point lead. Then, with a three-point shot, Trais Hoisington pushed the Bluehawks into a 10-point lead; it was short lived, though, and Plains came back with a three-point basket of their own. The half ended with a score of 34-25 to Thompson Falls.

After the halftime break, the teams were still playing strong. Thompson Falls opened the half by advancing their score even more. Plains was playing hard, but their shots would not go into the basket; they were starting to edge back though. The Bluehawks were able to keep ahead though and the quarter closed with them still ahead at 48-31.

The final quarter saw Thompson Falls advance to a 20-point lead. The court had turned into a battlefield as both teams worked to get in their last minute points. The Horsemen were not able to advance much, though, and the game ended with a final score of 69-38 to the Bluehawks.

Plains Head Coach Carl Benson felt they were a little out of synch for the game. He recalled one of the players had an injured knee and was not back to full strength. As a result, they had to scramble to fill the gaps.

Benson was happy, though, and noted how hard the boys played in the first half. The second half saw them slow down some, but they had fought hard and tried to come back to victory or overtime.
