| January 29, 2016 11:14 AM

The Mineral County Historical Society announced the completion of a major digital initiative to promote tourism and economic development in Mineral County a couple of weeks ago called Next Exit History mobile app. They celebrated the event by holding a reception and unveiling of the project to the public on January 21.

The project was a partnership between the Bitterroot Economic Development District (BREDD), the historical society, and Historical Research Associates (HRA), Inc., of Missoula, to interpret the heritage of Mineral County through the Next Exit History mobile app. A free GPS-based mobile app that provides information on more than 60,000 historical sites around the world.

“Several years ago the Historical Society expressed the desire for a driving tour of history of mining in the County, and Next Exit History was a perfect solution,” said BREDD’s Mary Allen in a recent press release. “This has brought to life all the wonderful history that has been documented by the amazing dedicated staff at the Historical Society. I couldn’t be happier with the results.”
