School reading program starts up in February

“I Love to Read Month” is an event that usually takes place in February, where students will read to be the top reader of their class. This event starts on February 1, 2016. “I Love to Read Month” always has a theme, which this year is “Pirates.” This event is ran by Carole Carlstrom and Connie Acker, the librarians at Alberton School. Students absolutely love this fun event.

Students can be the top reader of their class by earning points. To earn points, they have to take a quiz about the book they read once they finish the it. If they get the correct answers, they get points. The student with the most points by the end of the month becomes the top reader. The top reader of each class will be announced the day of the awards ceremony.

On the day of the awards ceremony, students get the whole day to do activities related to the theme of the event. Students are split up into four groups, which are taken to different activities. Everyone will get a chance to do every activity. Teachers will guide each group in what objective they must do.
