Thompson Falls wildfire burning in large area

A large wildfire burning in Thompson Falls, near Hwy. 200 to the east.

NBC Montana affiliate KECI posted a radar image at 6:35 p.m. showing a large area of smoke east of Thompson Falls.

Montana DNRC has not issued any information at this time.

The large plume of smoke is estimated to be thousands of feet high and is currently covering portions of Sanders County.

Sources told the Clark Fork Valley Press that Forest Service air support is using the Plains airport to fly fire retardant to the incident.

A source also indicated that the fire is estimated to be over 100 acres in size.
