Friends help Jimmy Jones

| March 9, 2016 6:00 AM

Jimmy Jones was feeling the love, as well as ‘a little off the top’ at a benefit dinner and auction which was held in his honor on Feb. 27. The event in his name occurred to help pay for some of Jones’ medical bills that have accumulated as the result of his treatments for esophageal cancer.

Friends showed up in droves to help out their friend.

Jones, who has worked at Tricon for 15 years, has been an active community member for years, including being a volunteer for the local fire department.

The dinner was a spaghetti feed, and the food ran out even before the auction began. It was standing room only as 90 auction items were bid on with the biggest bid of the evening being a haircut that went for around $2,500 from Jerry Dockter, who is the chief of the St. Regis Fire Department. He gave a tearful approval for a flattop haircut, stating that Jones was the best man at his wedding many years ago, as well as his best friend. But Dockter was not alone in his beautification; he was joined by Jones and Randy Rennick, who also got their locks chopped off. Another big item was a raffle for a chainsaw which was won by Steve Young.
