| March 22, 2016 3:29 PM

he Mineral County 4-H Shooting Sports Team wrapped up a successful season with the Montana 4-H Shooting Sports Tournament in Bozeman earlier this month. Some of the top scoring advanced Rifle team members will be heading to Nationals at Camp Perry, Ohio, June 26 through the 28.

Advanced Rifle Team members include Jonna Warnken, Bailey Milender, Howie Edison, and Aidan Patko and they won the JO Qualifier with a score of 2080, which is 55 points above the national match entry level, according to 4-H Rifle coach, Don Warnken.

The team is also heading to the CMP Regional Match in Sandy, Utah on April 2. Warnken said that the younger team members shot the Montana State postal matches and also did a great job. The team has started to hold fundraisers in order to get to their next competitions, which includes selling Little Caesar pizza kits, there will also be a spaghetti feed and bake sale on May 13th, and they may hold a garage sale during the Car show in Superior.

“We would like to thank all of our supporters,” said Warnken, “with a big thanks to the Mineral County Sporting Association who gave the advanced team sporter guns. Our shooters are shooting the best guns out there.”

Archery coach, Rusty Parkin, explained that the postal is a match shot at their own facility in Superior over a ten week period where the top six scores for each team member is added up to determine the medal winners.

Parkin, along with archery coach, Ladd Nakasone, said that they received an archery storage cabinet donated by the Mineral County Shooting Sports Association, the White Resources Group, and Norco Products, and wanted to thank these supporters, along with the residents of Superior and surrounding neighbors who continue to support the 4-H Shooting Sports Program.

“Without their support, our kids and these programs wouldn’t enjoy the kids of success that they have,” said Parkin.
