The Alberton Easter egg hunt is an annual event where kids can participate up to age 10. There are three age groups for the egg hunt; children up to age three, four to six, and seven to 10 years of age. Most of the eggs that kids are hunting for are filled with candy, and other eggs are filled with a paper slip saying a name of a prize on it.

“There are about 2,000 eggs in the whole entire event,” says Bob McComb, the administrator of the event. “We try to get every kid a prize.”

Bob McComb has been running this event for about 10 to 12 years. He says that since nobody else will run it, he runs it, “Frenchtown, Superior, and St. Regis do it, so why can’t we?”

McComb’s favorite prizes are the two new bikes, “we have a few used bikes, but they’re for the smaller kids.”

“I would like to thank Flyin’ R Cafe, Valley Grocery, River’s Edge Resort, Alberton Feed and Supply, Trax Bar, and all of the citizens who helped fill the eggs. That was a big chore last night,” said McComb.

There were a lot of people at the event, and most had good things to say, including Alberton resident, Laura Acker who said that her kids loves this event, and that her daughter, Rainier had been looking forward to it all week.

“It’s a cool event,” said Eryn Odell, an Alberton teen who is too old to participate, “I like it and wish I could do it again.”

“It’s fun,” said third grader, Georgia Fredette, “and a lot of fun things are involved. It brings people to Alberton that don’t even live here.”

“I got loads of laffy taffy!” said kindergartner Wyatt Daughty.

“It’s fun!” said Daughty’s classmate, Delilah Bean,“I won two prizes already!”

Ryland, Bean’s cousin, said, “I think my bike and the Easter Egg Hunt is cool.”

Aiden, a two and a half year old, said that he likes his new bike, game, and coloring book.

“I won a green bike, and it even comes with a helmet!” said Elijah Kromrey, “I barely got any eggs, though, but I still think it was fun.”
