Madison Hill of St. Regis earns top honors at State

Madison Hill, a junior at St. Regis, took top honors in the long jump at the Class C State Track and Field meet in Missoula on Friday with 16-8.25. She was trailed by Claire Fickler from Drummond with 16-06.75. Ember Schwindt from Cascade took third with 16.05.75, followed by Carly Hergett of Arlee in fourth with 16-05.25.

Hill also won third in 100 meter dash with 13.00. Claire Fickler from Drummond took first with 12.84, Ashley Revis from Arlee took second with 12.89.

Freshman, Brock Cantrell-Field, also from St. Regis, placed in the top 10 in both javelin and discus. Along with Emma Duboise, a Junior from Superior, who won fifth in Girls Pole Vault with 8-06.00.

Another big win at State this year was Plains senior Leah Thompson, who set an all-class state record, tossing the discus 154 feet, 11 inches. The old record of 154-10 was set by Bree Fuqua of Polson 17 years ago.
