Thanksgiving dinner open to public

Rose Duncan, with Human Resources, is holding her annual Thanksgiving dinner at 3 p.m. on Nov. 24 at the 4-H building in Superior. The meal is free and open to the public.

Women’s group launches annual toy drive

Women in Timber are holding their annual Mineral County Toy Drive. Go to Castle’s Market, St. Regis Gift Shop, Wells Fargo Bank, Stang’s Market, Alberton Sr. Center and Library, Superior Library, 4 Aces, Mineral Pharmacy, Town Pump, This and That Consignment. Select a tag for a girl or boy, and purchase a gift, keeping the cost at $10. Tape tag to unwrapped present and return it to any of the listed locations.

Auction to land at River Edge

The 21st Annual Helping Hands Benefit Auction will be held on Dec. 3 and 4 at the River Edge in Alberton at noon and 5 p.m.

Friends of the Library to host Christmas Bazaar

Mineral County Friends of the Library Christmas Bazaar will be held Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Enjoy lunch, crafts, vendors, music, books, and raffles, plus Agatha Award winning author, Leslie Budewitz will speak about her latest cozy mystery, Killing Thyme at 2 p.m.

Food drive underway

Mineral Community Hospital and local businesses are currently holding the annual Holiday Food Drive to fill the pantries at local Mineral County food banks. Bring in nonperishable items between now and the end of December. There is also a dollar-for-dollar match up to $5,000 for cash donations through the end of November. Drop off donations in the hospital lobby, the Jack Lincoln Memorial Clinic in St. Regis, and the Partnership Health Center in Superior.

Craft fair coming to Alberton

The annual Alberton Craft Fair will be held in the Alberton School cafeteria on Nov. 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Vendors will be selling craft items, and there will be morning cinnamon rolls and other food items. Contact Resa at 722-3339 for details.

Ecumenical Service returning to Superior

For over 30 years the nondenominational Ecumenical Service has been held in Superior and this year is no exception. The service, which is an advent program, will be held on Monday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. at the Catholic Church in Superior. There will be singing, readings and more for this community event. The public is welcome to participate in the community choir and the chime choir. Rehearsals are currently being held at the Methodist Church in Superior. The choir meets on Sundays at 5 p.m. and the chime choir meets on Saturdays at 11 a.m. For additional information call Nancy Wilson at (406) 822-4548 or (406) 274-1033.

Sports Notes

Hot Springs maintains perfect season in championship game

The State 6-Man football championship game was held in Plentywood on Saturday, Nov. 19 where Hot Springs won 54-20 over Westby-Grenora. Hot Springs had a perfect 13-0 season.

Charlo falls to Ennis in overtime

In Charlo, Ennis beat Charlo 30-24 in overtime for the 8-Man championship on Saturday. Stripping the team of a championship win that would have been their first in 40 years.

Basketball season begins next month

Area High Schools have started basketball practice for boys and girls. First games are scheduled to begin the first part of December. Junior high basketball is currently underway. Schedules can be found on school websites, for St. Regis visit stregisschool.org. For the Clark Fork Mountain Cats visit alberton.k12.mt.us.
