| November 23, 2016 4:00 AM

Donald “Butch” Kruger, 76, passed away on Nov. 11, 2016.

He was born on Oct. 20, 1940, in St. Maries, Idaho, to Don and Corrine Kruger.

At the young age of 17 he went into the U.S. Army and was also in the Korean War. He got out at the age of 21. He later moved to St. Regis, Montana, where he was a logger. That was his passion and he was the best at it, even with one wooden leg. He never stopped.

Later in life he started working at Tricon Timber, where he ran the front end loader up until he retired in 2010. Then he spent time with his family and friends and enjoyed picking on everyone he could every chance he got.

He had two children and seven step-children, 24 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. He loved them all and loved sharing his life stories with each and every one of them.

He is survived by his children and step-children, grandkids, two sisters and all his friends who love him dearly.

He is forever in our hearts and will always be remembered for his wonderful stories, infectious smile and laugh.

There will be a potluck Celebration of Life for him on Nov. 26 at 2 p.m. at the Dog House Saloon in St. Regis.

He will be laid to rest in the spring over in St. Maries. Date to come later.
