Football roundup Tigers split in first two games; Cats win for Homecoming

On September 2, St. Regis hosted Mullan, Idaho for a football match. It was a big win for St. Regis with a leading score of 70 to 18. Sophomore, Brock Cantrell-Field stole the show where he threw for five touchdowns and ran for three more against the Mullan Tigers. He also kicked three extra points.

Mullan scored a steady six points for the first three quarters, while St. Regis had a great first quarter putting up 34 points. In the second quarter they had 22 points, and then seven in the final two quarters. In the first quarter Cantrell-Field ran the ball in for a three yard touchdown, followed by a kick. This was followed by a 45 yard pass from Cantrell-Field to Trevor Lowry for the score.

Cantrell-Field passed Robert Dahl a 25 yard pass, plus a kick for another seven points on the board. Lowry then scored with a three yard fumble recovery. With Erick Eslick running in a 20 yard pass from Cantrell-Field to put a total of 34 points up by the end of the first quarter. Where Mullan's Sheldon Trogden ran in a 50 yard touchdown.

In the second quarter, Cantrell-Field ran in for a five yard touchdown, followed by a successful kick. Josh Drobny scored from a five yard pass from Cantrell-Field, followed by two points from Eslick with a pass by Cantrell-Field. Mullan put up six with a 65 yard run by Trogden. Followed by an 18 yard run by Ryan Teeter, with two points by Eslick. To end the first half with 56 to 12.

In the second half Cantrell-Field ran in a 23 yard touchdown, with a pass received by Eslick. Mullan's Skye Galloway ran in a 62 yard pass. With the final touchdown made by Lowry with a 40 yard pass received from Cantrell-Field, followed by a pass to Teeter for the final winning score of 70 for the St. Regis Tigers.

White Sulphur Springs walks away with victory at St. Regis, 76-27

At St. Regis, White Sulphur Springs walked away with a victory with a 76 to 27 win over the Tigers on Friday, Sept. 9. In the first quarter White Sulphur Springs had a 55 yard touchdown made by Dawson Clay. Followed by Trevor Lowrey carrying in a 21 yard pass from Brock Cantrell-Field, with a kick by him for another point. White Sulphur Springs, Blake Ringer ran one in with a kick. Brock Cantrell-Field then had an eight yard run. Clay ruled the next stretch starting with a 23 yard interception return with the kick good. Followed by a 60 yard pass return from Will Collins and then a 40 yard run with a failed kick. Collins ended White Sulphur Springs rule with a seven yard run and a failed kick.

St. Regis, Ryan Teeter put up another six with a 60 yard kickoff return. Clay showed up again with a 20 yard pass from Jordan Barfuss. With Collins joining the party with a 50 yard run. Clay followed with a seven yard run and another 50 yard pass from Barfuss. Cantrell-Field returned the favor with a 23 yard run. White Sulpher Spring's Collins ended the game with a 37 yard run and a failed kick.

Mountain Cats stomp Blackhawks for Homecoming win, 54-16

It was Superior's Homecoming night on September 9 and the evening gave the royal court reason to cheer as the Clark Fork Mountain Cats stomped the Seeley-Swan Blackhawks in football, 54 to 16. Senior, Nick Turnbull did some heavy lifting and carried the ball 20 times for 198 yards and four touchdowns during Friday night's showdown.

In the first half, Sterling Reese started the show with a quick 45 yard touchdown within the first 17 seconds of the game from a pass made by junior quarterback, Isaac Warren. Connor Voll followed up with a 23 yard pass from Warren for the score. With Isaiah Kovalski in for the run.

Seeley-Swan, Shane Lindemer ran in a 55 yard pass from Bradley Miller, with the extra points made by Chance Johnson. Turnbull then pulled up a 30 yard run, with extra points by Kovalski. Voll received a 36 yard pass from Warren. The final touchdown in the first half was made by Turnbull with a four yard run, and extra points by Kaleb Ververis. With the Cats leading 36 to 8.

In the second half, Turnbull returned to the scene with an eight yard touchdown. Followed by a 13 yard pass from Warren to Kovalski for the score. Seeley-Swan put another eight on the board by Lindemer with a 70 yard catch from Miller. Turnbull mopped up the show with a 23 yard run for the final score of the evening.
